Rory serves as board president to the San Mateo Police Officers’ Association. Rory is native to the Bay Area and has served as a law enforcement officer for over 20 years – 10 years in the Air Force and 10 years as a civil servant.
In his 20 years, Rory has been a field training officer, police academy instructor, crisis negotiator, and peer support member. He passionately serves as president to ensure San Mateo stays safe by advocating for equitable working conditions for frontline staff and he values fostering a positive relationship with management. Rory became a police officer because he felt it was his path in life. He feels it’s the ideal career because it affords him the opportunity to do something different and exciting every day.
While obtaining his college education in criminal justice, Rory worked construction, became a master donut connoisseur, and discovered his love for politics. He playfully told us, “If I were to think of all the people in my life, my dad is at the top of the list as my hero. Other than being a firefighter, he’s a really great guy!”
Scott serves as board vice president to the San Mateo Police Officers’ Association. He dedicates himself as vice president to ensure SMPOA members are represented fairly and their constitutional rights are protected. He values his career and enjoys problem solving and interacting with the community. He loves his family, likes to go for walks, and barbecue.
Kayla serves as board secretary to the San Mateo Police Officers’ Association. She dedicates herself as secretary because she is detail oriented and enjoys keeping things organized.
Kayla is passionate about helping the community and enjoys leading fundraisers like the Torch Run and Special Olympics.
Todd serves as treasurer to the San Mateo Police Officers’ Association. He became a police officer because he enjoys serving the public and helping people. Todd has enjoyed working patrol and traffic.
Alison serves as board welfare officer to the San Mateo Police Officers’ Association. She devotes herself ensuring injured or sick SMPOA members are not left behind or fall through the cracks. Alison’s intuitive nature and dedication to member wellness has proven time and time again to carry members through their darkest hour. Her ingenuity and unwavering commitment to members deserves a stack of awards. Alison is in her third year of law enforcement. She comes to SMPOA with a doctorate in law and was a successful attorney before becoming a police officer. Alison’s heart is in public service and she truly enjoys bringing criminals to justice.
Maria serves as director at large to the San Mateo Police Officers’ Association. She devotes herself as a director with a passion to serve SMPOA membership and the San Mateo community. As a native to the Bay Area, Maria began working with the police department as a police explorer. She later transferred to parking enforcement and now serves as a community service officer.
Maria has a degree in criminal justice and an assortment of training certifications, which helps tremendously in her current role in the Investigations Bureau. Maria has served as a field training officer, court officer, and as a traffic CSO before transferring into Investigations.
She values her family. Maria’s mom is her hero and she loves visiting her grandparents in Mexico.
Dorrin serves as director at large to the San Mateo Police Officers’ Association. He became a police officer because he thrives on the excitement and satisfaction the job brings when serving the public. In his career in law enforcement, Dorrin has enjoyed working patrol and traffic.
Giannina serves as director at large to the San Mateo Police Officers’ Association. She serves as a director to assist the SMPOA membership and be a voice for dispatchers. Giannina loves helping people. She tells us she was lucky enough to have family and friends in law enforcement who showed her a whole new side of helping her community. Giannina has worked as a community service officer and is now serving as a dispatcher.
Giannina has a degree in interdisciplinary studies and before getting into law enforcement, she worked alongside officers at the County of San Mateo as a phlebotomist. Born in Argentina and raised in the Bay Area, Giannina is all about self-development and improving herself. Giannina loves a good challenge, she is an expert in the kitchen, and loves spending time with her husband. She’s also the biggest fan of animals and watching bad scary movies.
Jason serves as director at large to the San Mateo Police Officers’ Association. He devotes himself as a director with a passion to serve SMPOA membership and the San Mateo community. Hailing to us from Southern California, Jason moved to the Bay Area and has been serving as a police officer for 18 years.
While obtaining his bachelors in psychology, Jason worked as an EMT on an ambulance and in the emergency room. In his 18 years as a police officer, Jason has served as a motor officer, range master, EVOC instructor, less lethal instructor, first aid/CPR instructor, field training officer, cadet coordinator, and canine handler.
He values his family and identified their well-being as his top priority. Jason is a big fan of playing ice hockey and traveling the world. You just may see him vacationing at one of his favorite destinations, Hawai’i!
